PRODUCTS - DIGITAL VIDEO BROADCAST – LOGGING SYSTEMS – JETZLOG

Broadcast content needs to be logged for two primary reasons. The first is Compliance driven, to meet regulatory requirements. The second is revenue driven, to meet advertisers’ requirements for proof of Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Initially logging requirements were met by recording to tape or capture cards with digital media stored in low-res format. There were many limitations, such as the limited number of channels per system, low-quality of recorded materiel, inability to record more than one audio track (per channel) and so on. However, these were the accepted norms with the technology available at that time.
With the advent of DVB and the use of ASI as a carrier, JETZLOG now makes it possible to log a Multi Program Transport Stream (MPTS) or a complete transponder – with all its channels. Not just logging multiple channels, even more, JETZLOG delivers logging of all these channels – with their associated multiple audio tracks and sub-titles – in their original quality. JETZLOG can be deployed for both On-Air and Off-Air scenarios. JETZLOG delivers true Compliance; no modification to the original broadcast is done. Not even trans-rating or burning of the time stamp on the video as is done in the analog and low-end digital arenas. Timestamps are overlaid only on clips created for verification and not on original logged materiel.
A unique, fault-tolerant and scalable architecture
The JETZLOG System has been conceptualised and developed to deliver a
modular and easily scalable architecture. The System can be equipped with
as
many ASI inputs as needed by the customer depending on the channels,
bandwidth and levels of redundancy that are required. A clear, unencrypted
MPTS is given as input to the ASI input module. A realtime logging application,
working closely with the system’s kernel resources, ensures logging of
the
complete transponder stream without losing a byte in the process.
Multiple loggers can be stacked and controlled by a single database
server to
log the streams from multiple transponders. This delivers a system with
24 x 7
capability to record any number of complete MPTS streams, each comprising
multiple digital programs along with all their associated audio and sub-title
tracks.
To deliver redundancy, input is mirrored and recorded concurrently through
active and passive logging. Redundancy scales across multiple loggers
through
JETZLOG’s unique ‘daisy-chain’ configuration which also ensures seamless
future expandability. In essence this is the backbone of JETZLOG’s modular
and
scalable architecture.
The overall control and management, including the health status of the
various
systems, are monitored by the database server with its own redundant server.
The distributed database architecture has been designed to guarantee against
any single-point failure.
JETZLOG is based on the Linux Operating System and robust hardware
specifications for stability, data integrity and virus-free operation
for 24 x 365
performance. User Interface is effected through a choice of Windows or
HTML
based front ends.
