VectorBoxVECTORBOX – by VECTOR 3 – is a complete and easy-to-use playout solution and the ideal choice for any channel where playout and ingest of content from a variety of sources is required and where manpower is at a premium.

VECTORBOX’s powerful video server, graphics and automation bring clear benefits to both large and small channel environments, such as enhanced file-based workflows and complete management of content from live, VTR and satellite feeds. Other benefits include faster media to air with reduced reliance on videotape and reduced operating expenses without the need to duplicate media.

VECTORBOX makes use of the latest technology by coding and decoding in RAM, benefiting your channel not only now, but in the future as well. You now have total control of each frame in real time with the ability to mix all of today’s compression formats and wrappers in the same schedule, as well as tomorrow’s formats yet to be invented.

These and many other advantages make VECTORBOX the total playout and a technically and economically advantageous choice for your channel.

Video Server | Multi-format Capability

VECTORBOX - video server

Playing video from hard disk is no longer a challenge for any manufacturer. The tough part is playing any file, in any format. VECTORBOX offers a truly advanced architecture because it is not limited by hardware capability but rather codes and decodes within the operating system itself. This innovation means that VECTORBOX not only supports all major broadcast codecs and wrappers but will continue to support new formats as they appear on the market.

Currently supported compression formats include: Mpeg2 IBP and I-Frame, DVCAM, DVCPRO25, DVCPRO50, MJPEG and IMX30/40/50, and supported file formats include Quicktime from Final Cut Pro, MXF, raw DV and AVI. All this media may be mixed and played in the same continuity schedule and thanks to MXF support; the operator does not even need to know which format is being used. Simply drag & drop a clip into the playlist and VECTORBOX will take care of the rest.

IPTV

VECTORBOX provides an IPTV output for broadcast over IP as well as satellite and cable or for monitoring channel output. Output can be a compressed Windows Media 9 or QuickTime file stream ready for broadcast or a file series for broadcast from an external ISP.

Transitions

The VECTORBOX video server also allows you to carry out a wide range of transitions between clips, such as fades, wipes, and fade-to-black, all with corresponding audio control. Add to these a wide range of crops and other effects and you have a whole new dimension to the video server concept.

Automation

VECTORBOX is the culmination of more than 18 years of automation development, controlling more matrices and routing devices than any other playout system.

VectorBox - automation

With VECTORBOX, you can create templates with limitless crosspoint configurations and control as many devices as necessary by simply dragging and dropping them into the schedule. Switching is carried out with single-frame precision even where highly complex crosspoint and offset configurations are required and VECTORBOX also controls a full range of VTRs, both old and new, so they can continue to be used either for ingest or as auxiliary sources during broadcast.

Built-in Graphics

VectorBox - Graphics

VECTORBOX offers unbeatable possibilities from basic logo insertion and tickers to Flash™ animations to give your channel a real identity in the market.

VECTORBOX makes it easy to create dynamic CG templates for news tickers, titling, clocks, quizzes, "What’s up next" and weather graphics using any graphic file format and alphabet. These can be used in combination with effects such as shading, transparencies and video effects such as zooms and squeeze backs to reinforce a creative idea, provide for audience interaction and increase profits through SMS chat or advertising and sponsorships.

VECTORBOX loads text data for automatic titling and tickers from any source via XML or RSS and allows you to overlay graphics templates in different ways according to your needs. You can associate them to an event, time frame or even create a graphics sub-playlist, either subordinate to, or independent of the main continuity schedule. Graphics can also be manually triggered for live events.

Distributed Architecture

VECTORBOX is a powerful combination of four integrated modules: video server, graphics, device control and playlist and reclist management – all from a single, open, 4RU platform.

VectorBox - Distributed architecture

While this configuration is ideal for many channels, others such as multi-channel facilities will require a more distributed architecture. For this reason, each module can be installed on a dedicated hardware platform over a Gigabit LAN and communicate with the same naturalness as if they were on the same computer.

VECTORBOX's exclusive distributed architecture allows real flexibility and opens up a world of possibilities in facility design; such as control of multiple devices from the same interface, device sharing between channels and video server or even graphics redundancy on a standalone workstation

ABOUT VECTOR 3

In 1995, VECTOR 3 created VECTORBOX, the original all-in-one channel in a box solution and followed this with V-BOX News, engineered especially for live and news playout. More recent innovations include VECTORBOX Tatamia, a fully integrated playout system for music jukebox and other interactive TV applications.

This year, VECTORBOX celebrates over 14 years of dedication to file-based television playout and continues to make VECTORBOX the example to follow with a host of new features such as: compatibility with any file format, terabytes of internal storage in one box, ever more powerful graphics, interactive TV features and greater integration with third-party products.

14 years of satisfying broadcasters’ needs has won VECTORBOX awards and over 900 premium installations worldwide.
